H.R. No. 2890 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Kristina Correa won first place in the annual scholarship essay contest of the Optimist Club of Downtown Corpus Christi, and she is indeed deserving of special recognition for her achievement; and WHEREAS, Each year, the Optimist Club of Downtown Corpus Christi hosts a scholarship contest for local students; this year's theme was "Optimism Should Be A Priority," and as the first-place winner, Ms. Correa received $200; moreover, her essay will be submitted to compete for a $2,500 scholarship from the Optimist Club South Texas District; and WHEREAS, As valedictorian of her senior class at Tuloso-Midway High School, Ms. Correa has been a member of the mock trial team, the academic decathlon team, and the KEDT-TV Challenge team since her sophomore year; in college, she plans to study microbiology, and she has been accepted to both Stanford and Harvard; and WHEREAS, Through hard work and a commitment to excellence, this outstanding young Texan has demonstrated great ability as she works toward her scholastic goals, and she may indeed look forward to a future bright with promise; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Kristina Correa on winning the annual scholarship essay contest of the Optimist Club of Downtown Corpus Christi and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Correa as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
