| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Ten-year-old Mackenzie Marquis has faced the many |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of Carrie and Jay Marquis and the older |

| 10 | 11 | | sister of Abby, Mackenzie was diagnosed at birth with cystic |

| 11 | 12 | | fibrosis, a genetic condition that requires extensive long-term |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | therapy; she has undergone an arduous course of treatment that has |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | included numerous hospital visits and medications, while also |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | coping with the daily regimen of home care needed to keep her |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | symptoms at bay; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Mackenzie benefits tremendously from the love and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | encouragement of her family, who have taken an active role in |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | helping her manage her condition; throughout her life, they have |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | rallied together with other area residents as participants in Great |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | Strides, a charity walk administered by the Cystic Fibrosis |

| 21 | 22 | | Foundation; Mackenzie's walking team, calling themselves |

| 22 | 23 | | "Mackenzie's Mad Dogs," has raised some $500,000 for cystic |
