| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Alexis Martinez has been named a 2014 Corpus Christi |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The Caller-Times/Citgo South Texas Distinguished |

| 9 | 10 | | Scholars program was established to reward local students who have |

| 10 | 11 | | demonstrated excellence in such areas as academics, athletics, |

| 11 | 12 | | leadership, and community service; since its inception in 1988, |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | some 480 young men and women have been selected for this prestigious |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | honor, with the winners each receiving a stipend to assist with |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | college expenses; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, A senior at Moody High School, Ms. Martinez |

| 16 | 17 | | maintains a 98.4 grade point average and ranks 26th in her class of |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | 378; she has further distinguished herself as a member of the |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | cheerleading squad; after graduation, she plans to study biomedical |

| 19 | 20 | | sciences or biomedical engineering at Texas A&M University; and |

| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has pursued her goals |

| 21 | 22 | | with tremendous dedication, and she may take great pride in all that |

| 22 | 23 | | she has accomplished as she looks ahead to a future bright with |
