| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Virginia R. Garza retired as the meal site manager |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | at the Driscoll Community Center on December 31, 2014, drawing to a |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | close a 27-year tenure with Nueces County Senior Community Services |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | and a lifelong career spent caring for the needs of her fellow |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | citizens; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Garza began working at the Driscoll Community |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Center in 2003, after serving as the meal site manager at the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Robstown Community Center for more than 15 years; in these roles, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | she was tasked with overseeing and recruiting volunteers for the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | senior citizen nutrition program and motivating her clients at the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | centers to maintain healthy, active lifestyles; in addition, this |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | compassionate Texan personally delivered meals to homebound |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | residents in the area, a practice she carried on from her nine years |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | as a van driver with the City of Corpus Christi; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, A native of Nueces County, Ms. Garza was born in |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Floresville and raised in Robstown, where she started her career in |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | 1974 as a bus driver for the Robstown Independent School District |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | and later served as a child care paraprofessional at the Wesley |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Community Center; in all her endeavors, she has enjoyed the love and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | support of her three children, Rosalinda, Sylvia, and Ruben, and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, The kindness and dedication that Virginia Garza |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | brought to her duties helped countless older Texans enjoy a greater |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | quality of life, and she may reflect with pride on her many |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | achievements as she embarks on her well-deserved retirement; now, |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Virginia R. Garza on her retirement |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | from Nueces County Senior Community Services and extend to her |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further |

| 36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
