66 WHEREAS, Virginia R. Garza retired as the meal site manager
77 at the Driscoll Community Center on December 31, 2014, drawing to a
88 close a 27-year tenure with Nueces County Senior Community Services
99 and a lifelong career spent caring for the needs of her fellow
1010 citizens; and
1111 WHEREAS, Ms. Garza began working at the Driscoll Community
1212 Center in 2003, after serving as the meal site manager at the
1313 Robstown Community Center for more than 15 years; in these roles,
1414 she was tasked with overseeing and recruiting volunteers for the
1515 senior citizen nutrition program and motivating her clients at the
1616 centers to maintain healthy, active lifestyles; in addition, this
1717 compassionate Texan personally delivered meals to homebound
1818 residents in the area, a practice she carried on from her nine years
1919 as a van driver with the City of Corpus Christi; and
2020 WHEREAS, A native of Nueces County, Ms. Garza was born in
2121 Floresville and raised in Robstown, where she started her career in
2222 1974 as a bus driver for the Robstown Independent School District
2323 and later served as a child care paraprofessional at the Wesley
2424 Community Center; in all her endeavors, she has enjoyed the love and
2525 support of her three children, Rosalinda, Sylvia, and Ruben, and
2626 her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and
2727 WHEREAS, The kindness and dedication that Virginia Garza
2828 brought to her duties helped countless older Texans enjoy a greater
2929 quality of life, and she may reflect with pride on her many
3030 achievements as she embarks on her well-deserved retirement; now,
3131 therefore, be it
3232 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
3333 Legislature hereby congratulate Virginia R. Garza on her retirement
3434 from Nueces County Senior Community Services and extend to her
3535 sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
3636 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3737 prepared for Ms. Garza as an expression of high regard by the Texas
3838 House of Representatives.
