| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Calallen High School student Bailey McLendon was |

| 6 | 7 | | crowned queen of the 80th Nueces County Junior Livestock Show on |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The Queen's Contest brought together 22 young women |

| 9 | 10 | | who were evaluated based on their performances in an opening number |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | and in talent and interview portions of the event; moreover, Ms. |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | McLendon and her fellow participants were featured in the Nueces |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | County Junior Livestock Show parade down Main Street in Robstown; |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, This exemplary young Texan has been a dedicated |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | competitor in livestock shows for the past nine years; she has shown |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | pigs and has also taken part in contests for such skills as baking, |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | creative stitchery, and photography; this year marked her first |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | time vying for the title of queen of the livestock show, and she was |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | nominated to participate by the Nueces County 4-H Trap and Skeet |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | Club, which she serves as secretary; in addition to winning the |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | queen's crown, she tied for Top Talent honors; and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, When not engaged in her studies or extracurricular |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | activities, Ms. McLendon enjoys work that allows her to give back |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | to her community; she volunteers with Corpus Christi Pals and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | participates in Adopt-a-Highway with her FFA club, and she is a |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | youth dean for the Sea City Work Camp, an organization that repairs |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | houses for elderly and low-income residents; following her |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | graduation, she plans to study agriculture and economics at Texas |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | A&M University; and |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | WHEREAS, The Queen's Contest serves as a showcase for the |

| 31 | 32 | | diverse talents of young women in Nueces County, and Bailey |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | McLendon is indeed deserving of recognition for winning this |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | prestigious competition; now, therefore, be it |

| 34 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 35 | 36 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Bailey McLendon on her selection as |

| 36 | 37 | | queen of the 80th Nueces County Junior Livestock Show and extend to |

| 37 | 38 | | her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
