| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Jake Straker of Boy Scouts of America Troop No. 1014 |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Receiving the Eagle Scout badge is a significant |

| 9 | 10 | | honor, bestowed on only a small fraction of those who enter the |

| 10 | 11 | | scouting movement; in the course of meeting the rank's demanding |

| 11 | 12 | | criteria, Mr. Straker earned the requisite 21 merit badges and |

| 12 | 13 | | successfully completed an Eagle Scout project, which involved |

| 13 | 14 | | building an outdoor learning space for area children; and |

| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, The son of Patrick and Janice Straker, this fine |

| 15 | 16 | | young Texan has demonstrated outstanding leadership ability |

| 16 | 17 | | throughout his scouting career, winning the respect and admiration |

| 17 | 18 | | of the fellow members of his troop through his service as senior |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader, historian, |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | chaplain, and quartermaster; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Straker has distinguished himself outside of |

| 21 | 22 | | scouting as well, earning high marks while taking upper level |

| 22 | 23 | | classes in his sophomore year at Cypress Creek High School; he also |

| 23 | 24 | | captained the football team, participated in student council, and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | currently works at a competitive volleyball facility; and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Eagle Scout Straker's dedication to excellence and |

| 26 | 27 | | his perseverance in the pursuit of his goals have proven him worthy |

| 27 | 28 | | to stand among scouting's elite, and he may indeed reflect with |

| 28 | 29 | | pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it |

| 29 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
