No. 3021 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Joseph Watts is retiring from the Henderson Independent School District in 2015, drawing to a close a notable career in education that has spanned a half-century; and WHEREAS, A native of Laneville, Joe Watts developed a passion for agriculture at a young age, when he farmed watermelons and peas on land his family had owned since the 1870s; a graduate of Laneville High School, he attended Stephen F. Austin State University and distinguished himself there as president of the FFA, and he later completed a master's degree; and WHEREAS, After beginning his career as an educator at a junior high school in Needville, he moved to San Augustine, where he taught agriculture for four years and helped build a community rodeo arena; he went on to be hired by Henderson ISD, and during his tenure, he has helped his students consistently place at the Rusk County Youth Project Show and has raised money for the Agriculture Department by working the concession stand at football games for nearly three decades; and WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Mr. Watts is blessed with the love and affection of his two children, Joey and Stephanie; and WHEREAS, Through his dedication, professionalism, and commitment to excellence, Joe Watts has made a positive difference in the lives of numerous Henderson students over the years, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a career well spent; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Joe Watts on his retirement from the Henderson Independent School District and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Watts as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
