| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Joseph Watts is retiring from the Henderson |

| 6 | 7 | | Independent School District in 2015, drawing to a close a notable |

| 7 | 8 | | career in education that has spanned a half-century; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A native of Laneville, Joe Watts developed a passion |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | for agriculture at a young age, when he farmed watermelons and peas |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | on land his family had owned since the 1870s; a graduate of |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | Laneville High School, he attended Stephen F. Austin State |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | University and distinguished himself there as president of the FFA, |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | and he later completed a master's degree; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, After beginning his career as an educator at a |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | junior high school in Needville, he moved to San Augustine, where he |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | taught agriculture for four years and helped build a community |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | rodeo arena; he went on to be hired by Henderson ISD, and during his |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | tenure, he has helped his students consistently place at the Rusk |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | County Youth Project Show and has raised money for the Agriculture |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | Department by working the concession stand at football games for |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | nearly three decades; and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Mr. Watts is blessed with |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | the love and affection of his two children, Joey and Stephanie; and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Through his dedication, professionalism, and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | commitment to excellence, Joe Watts has made a positive difference |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | in the lives of numerous Henderson students over the years, and he |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | may indeed reflect with pride on a career well spent; now, |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | therefore, be it |

| 29 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 30 | 31 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Joe Watts on his retirement from |

| 31 | 32 | | the Henderson Independent School District and extend to him sincere |

| 32 | 33 | | best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further |
