H.R. No. 3099
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Jordan Welborn of Lumberton High School achieved
great distinction by winning silver medals in the Class 5A girls'
1,600-meter and 3,200-meter races at the 2015 University
Interscholastic League Track & Field State Meet; and
WHEREAS, Joining the top high school competitors in Texas at
Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin on May 14-15, Ms. Welborn turned in
a pair of notable performances; she clocked in at 4 minutes, 58.64
seconds, in the 1,600-meter race and at 10 minutes, 58.62 seconds,
in the 3,200-meter run to earn second place in both events; and
WHEREAS, By excelling in the state's premier showcase for
high school track and field athletes, Jordan Welborn has ably
represented her school, and she will cherish her memories of this
outstanding accomplishment for years to come; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Jordan Welborn on her second-place
finishes in the Class 5A girls' 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter races
at the 2015 UIL Track & Field State Meet and extend to her sincere
best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Welborn as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
