| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, John Thomas Thrash of Boy Scouts of America Troop |

| 6 | 7 | | No. 157 in Lubbock has attained the rank of Eagle Scout, and this |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Receiving the Eagle Scout badge is a significant |

| 9 | 10 | | honor, bestowed on only a small fraction of those who enter the |

| 10 | 11 | | scouting movement; in the course of meeting the rank's demanding |

| 11 | 12 | | criteria, Mr. Thrash earned the requisite 21 merit badges and |

| 12 | 13 | | successfully completed an Eagle Scout project, which included |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | distributing backpacks filled with essential items to homeless |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | individuals; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, The son of Howard and Julie Thrash, this fine young |

| 16 | 17 | | Texan has also been active in his community of faith, attending |

| 17 | 18 | | mission trips and youth activities with First United Methodist |

| 18 | 19 | | Church; while at Lubbock High School, he participated in band, |

| 19 | 20 | | tennis, and golf, and he completed the MS 150 bike race two years in |

| 20 | 21 | | a row; now a freshman at Texas Tech University, he is studying |

| 21 | 22 | | business and enjoying the outdoors by skiing, hunting, and |

| 22 | 23 | | fly-fishing when he has the opportunity; and |

| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Eagle Scout Thrash's dedication to excellence and |

| 24 | 25 | | his perseverance in the pursuit of his goals have proven him worthy |

| 25 | 26 | | to stand among scouting's elite, and he may indeed reflect with |

| 26 | 27 | | pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it |

| 27 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
