| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Marcos Xavier Palacios of Boy Scouts of America |

| 6 | 7 | | Troop No. 157 in Lubbock has attained the rank of Eagle Scout, and |

| 7 | 8 | | this accomplishment truly merits special recognition; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Receiving the Eagle Scout badge is a significant |

| 9 | 10 | | honor, bestowed on only a small fraction of those who enter the |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | scouting movement; in the course of meeting the rank's demanding |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | criteria, Mr. Palacios earned the requisite 21 merit badges and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | successfully completed an Eagle Scout project, which involved |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | restoring the sign at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | Wolfforth and landscaping the surrounding area; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, A recipient of the Arrow of Light Award in 2007, he |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | has demonstrated outstanding leadership ability throughout his |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | scouting career, winning the respect and admiration of the fellow |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | members of his troop through his service as a patrol leader, Order |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | of the Arrow representative, assistant senior patrol leader, and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | senior patrol leader; and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, The son of Ruben and Minerva Palacios, this fine |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | young Texan has distinguished himself outside of scouting as well; |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | he graduated from Lubbock High School with International |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | Baccalaureate and High Honors Diplomas and earned multiple |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | scholarships to the Honors College at Texas Tech University, where |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | he is currently pursuing degrees in advertising and electronic |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | media and communication; and |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Eagle Scout Palacios has demonstrated a dedication |

| 29 | 30 | | to excellence and a perseverance in the pursuit of his goals that |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | have proven him worthy to stand among scouting's elite, and he may |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | indeed reflect with pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it |

| 32 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 33 | 34 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Marcos Xavier Palacios on |

| 34 | 35 | | attaining the rank of Eagle Scout and extend to him sincere best |
