| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Deborah Alemu has ably served her fellow Texans as a |

| 6 | 7 | | sessional staffer in the office of State Representative Roberto |

| 7 | 8 | | R. Alonzo during the 84th Legislative Session; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Since joining the staff, Ms. Alemu has provided |

| 9 | 10 | | vital assistance in handling a wide variety of challenging tasks; |

| 10 | 11 | | in addition to learning more about the legislative process and the |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | issues facing citizens of the Lone Star State, she has gained |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | valuable experience in the field of public service; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Alemu graduated from The University of Texas at |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | Austin in 2014 with a bachelor's degree in biology, and during her |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | school years, she worked as a student assistant to the curator of |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | the UT Herbarium Plant Resources Center; she has also served as an |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | organizer for United We Dream, as a DREAM Educational Empowerment |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | Program coordinator for the University Leadership Alliance, and as |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | a volunteer at Casa Marianella, helping to care for the children of |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | asylum seekers; in addition, she has volunteered at Austin food |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | pantries in behalf of the Hunger and Homelessness Outreach student |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | organization and served as a tutor and mentor for the River City |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | Youth Foundation; and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has performed her |

| 25 | 26 | | duties as a legislative staffer with skill and dedication, and she |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | is indeed deserving of special recognition for her fine work; now, |

| 27 | 28 | | therefore, be it |

| 28 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 29 | 30 | | Legislature hereby commend Deborah Alemu for her service as a |
