| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Since first winning election to her seat in 2005, |

| 9 | 10 | | Ms. Scott has been instrumental in a number of initiatives to |

| 10 | 11 | | improve the quality of education for area schoolchildren, including |

| 11 | 12 | | support for the construction of new school buildings and the |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | establishment of community service projects to benefit at-risk |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | students; she oversaw the launch of the highly successful Leaders |

| 14 | 15 | | Make Readers elementary school program and played a significant |

| 15 | 16 | | role in the fund-raising effort to ensure that all seniors at Clear |

| 16 | 17 | | View High School could walk across the stage in graduation gowns; |

| 17 | 18 | | she has also shared her expertise with elected officials tasked |

| 18 | 19 | | with developing more effective educational policy; and |

| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Deeply engaged in the wider community as well, |

| 20 | 21 | | Ms. Scott has held leadership positions in the League City Chamber |

| 21 | 22 | | of Commerce and the North Galveston County YMCA, and she was |

| 22 | 23 | | pivotally involved in the creation of the First Leadership League |

| 23 | 24 | | City Group; the longtime owner of Dee Scott Insurance Agency in |

| 24 | 25 | | League City, she has served as vice president of the League City |

| 25 | 26 | | Economic Development Corporation and has received a host of awards |

| 26 | 27 | | for her participation in the local Rotary Club; and |

| 27 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Through her unwavering commitment to Clear Creek |

| 28 | 29 | | ISD, Dee Scott has contributed greatly to the success of many young |

| 29 | 30 | | Texans, and she may take justifiable pride in a job well done; now, |
