| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Jane Santa Cruz has ably served her fellow Texans as |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Since joining the staff, Ms. Santa Cruz has provided |

| 9 | 10 | | vital assistance in handling many challenging tasks, especially |

| 10 | 11 | | those related to juvenile and criminal justice policies; in |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | addition to learning more about the legislative process and the |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | issues facing citizens of the Lone Star State, she has gained |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | valuable experience in the field of public service; and |

| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, A native of Dallas, Ms. Santa Cruz currently is |

| 15 | 16 | | pursuing a master's degree at The University of Texas at Austin |

| 16 | 17 | | Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs; after graduation, she |

| 17 | 18 | | plans to focus her efforts on closing the achievement gap for |

| 18 | 19 | | low-income students; she holds bachelor's degrees in history and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Spanish from Hendrix College in Arkansas and previously worked with |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | the nonprofit organization City Year; and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has performed her |

| 22 | 23 | | duties as a legislative intern with skill and dedication, and she is |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | indeed deserving of special recognition for her fine work; now, |

| 25 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 26 | 27 | | Legislature hereby commend Jane Santa Cruz for her service as a |
