45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Katie Martin has ably served her fellow Texans as an
67 aide in the office of State Representative Joe Moody during the 84th
78 Legislative Session; and
89 WHEREAS, Since joining the staff, Ms. Martin has provided
910 vital assistance with public education and child advocacy issues;
1011 even though she sustained a temporarily debilitating injury
1112 following a serious fall, she ably fulfilled her responsibilities
1213 as a team member; she demonstrated exceptional skill, dedication,
1314 and attention to detail, with the small exception of that pesky
1415 cliff; and
1516 WHEREAS, Ms. Martin, a Dallas native, completed her
1617 bachelor's degree in international relations and global studies at
1718 The University of Texas at Austin in 2012; as an undergraduate, she
1819 cofounded a mentorship program for boys in Ghana and an empowerment
1920 group for boys at an East Austin middle school; she has since served
2021 two years in AmeriCorps, mentoring and tutoring students in San
2122 Antonio and Dallas and training volunteer tutors as the inaugural
2223 site coordinator at the Charles Rice Learning Center; in 2014, she
2324 received the AmeriCorps "Make a Difference" Governor's Volunteer
2425 Award; and
2526 WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan is pursuing a dual
2627 master's in social work and public affairs at UT in preparation for
2728 a career in public service, and her outstanding performance as a
2829 legislative aide augurs a future bright with promise; now,
2930 therefore, be it
3031 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
3132 Legislature hereby commend Katie Martin for her service as a
3233 legislative aide in the office of State Representative Joe Moody
3334 and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success in all
3435 her endeavors; and, be it further
3536 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3637 prepared for Ms. Martin as an expression of high regard by the Texas
3738 House of Representatives.
