 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Those Texans who give freely of their time and
 talents to benefit their fellow citizens make the world a better
 place through their actions and their example, and Thomas M.
 Dunning of Dallas is being recognized for his exceptional community
 service by being named a recipient of a 2015 Profiles in Leadership
 Award; and
 WHEREAS, This highly esteemed individual has served his
 community as chair of the Dallas Citizens Council, as vice
 president of the Dallas Park and Recreation Board, and as the first
 Homeless Czar for the city; he has also held appointments to the
 boards of the Texas Departments of Transportation, Human Services,
 and Criminal Justice; currently, Mr. Dunning is serving on the
 boards of the Baylor Health Care System Foundation, the Southern
 Methodist University Tower Center for Political Studies, The
 Bridge, North Dallas Shared Ministries, and Greenhill School; and
 WHEREAS, Over the years, Mr. Dunning has received a number of
 prestigious accolades, including the Linz Award, the
 Anti-Defamation League Humanitarian Award, and the Volunteer
 Center of North Texas Servant Leader Award; a graduate of The
 University of Texas at Austin, he has been named chair emeritus of
 Lockton Dunning Benefits; and
 WHEREAS, The strength and unity of our cities are enhanced by
 the devoted efforts of individuals such as Thomas Dunning, whose
 tireless work has contributed immeasurably to the quality of life
 in Dallas; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Thomas M. Dunning on his receipt of
 a 2015 Profiles in Leadership Award and commend him on his exemplary
 record of civic engagement; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. Dunning as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
