H.R. No. 3267 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Mary Claire Phillips has ably served her fellow Texans as an intern in the office of State Representative Chris Turner during the 84th Legislative Session; and WHEREAS, Since joining the staff, Ms. Phillips has provided vital assistance in handling a wide variety of challenging tasks, including addressing the needs of constituents and conducting research for legislation concerning guns, equality, and women's health; in addition to learning more about the legislative process and the issues facing citizens of the Lone Star State, she has gained valuable experience in the field of public service; and WHEREAS, Ms. Phillips is currently a freshman at The University of Texas at Austin, where she is pursuing a bachelor's degree in government and competes as a member of the speech team; she has also been involved in politics as an intern for former state senator Wendy Davis, a canvasser for the city council campaign of Gregorio Casar, and a fellow of the South Dallas office of Battleground Texas; and WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has performed her duties as a legislative intern with skill and dedication, and she is indeed deserving of special recognition for her fine work; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby commend Mary Claire Phillips for her service as a legislative intern in the office of State Representative Chris Turner and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success in all her endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Phillips as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
