| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Mary Claire Phillips has ably served her fellow |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Since joining the staff, Ms. Phillips has provided |

| 9 | 10 | | vital assistance in handling a wide variety of challenging tasks, |

| 10 | 11 | | including addressing the needs of constituents and conducting |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | research for legislation concerning guns, equality, and women's |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | health; in addition to learning more about the legislative process |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | and the issues facing citizens of the Lone Star State, she has |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | gained valuable experience in the field of public service; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Phillips is currently a freshman at The |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | University of Texas at Austin, where she is pursuing a bachelor's |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | degree in government and competes as a member of the speech team; |

| 18 | 19 | | she has also been involved in politics as an intern for former state |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | senator Wendy Davis, a canvasser for the city council campaign of |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | Gregorio Casar, and a fellow of the South Dallas office of |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | Battleground Texas; and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has performed her |

| 23 | 24 | | duties as a legislative intern with skill and dedication, and she is |

| 24 | 25 | | indeed deserving of special recognition for her fine work; now, |

| 26 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 27 | 28 | | Legislature hereby commend Mary Claire Phillips for her service as |
