H.R. No. 3270 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Courtney Bartholomew has been named the 2014-2015 Teacher of the Year at Smith Elementary School in the Del Valle Independent School District; and WHEREAS, A solid education is vital for young people to become successful and productive adults, and those men and women who dedicate their careers to teaching make a positive difference in the lives of their students and in the greater community; and WHEREAS, Ms. Bartholomew worked with Popham and Hornsby-Dunlap Elementary Schools before joining the faculty at Smith Elementary, where she currently teaches first grade; she serves on the Math and Science Committee as well as the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports Committee; a founding member of EduRise, a nonprofit organization for teachers, she has also coached female students on self-confidence and healthy living through the Girls on the Run after-school program; she holds a bachelor of science degree in interdisciplinary studies from Texas State University; and WHEREAS, Courtney Bartholomew exemplifies the passion, determination, and innovative spirit that are the hallmarks of our best teachers, and she has set a standard of excellence to which all in her profession may aspire; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Courtney Bartholomew on her selection as the 2014-2015 Teacher of the Year at Smith Elementary School and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success with her important work; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Bartholomew as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
