| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Courtney Bartholomew has been named the 2014-2015 |

| 6 | 7 | | Teacher of the Year at Smith Elementary School in the Del Valle |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A solid education is vital for young people to |

| 9 | 10 | | become successful and productive adults, and those men and women |

| 10 | 11 | | who dedicate their careers to teaching make a positive difference |

| 11 | 12 | | in the lives of their students and in the greater community; and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Bartholomew worked with Popham and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | Hornsby-Dunlap Elementary Schools before joining the faculty at |

| 14 | 15 | | Smith Elementary, where she currently teaches first grade; she |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | serves on the Math and Science Committee as well as the Positive |

| 16 | 17 | | Behavioral Interventions and Supports Committee; a founding member |

| 17 | 18 | | of EduRise, a nonprofit organization for teachers, she has also |

| 18 | 19 | | coached female students on self-confidence and healthy living |

| 19 | 20 | | through the Girls on the Run after-school program; she holds a |

| 20 | 21 | | bachelor of science degree in interdisciplinary studies from Texas |

| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Courtney Bartholomew exemplifies the passion, |

| 23 | 24 | | determination, and innovative spirit that are the hallmarks of our |

| 24 | 25 | | best teachers, and she has set a standard of excellence to which all |

| 25 | 26 | | in her profession may aspire; now, therefore, be it |

| 26 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
