| 10 | 11 | | The University of Texas--Pan American Foundation, this program is |

| 11 | 12 | | designed to encourage UTPA students to pursue careers in public |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | service; Ms. Miller has worked in the Capitol office of State |

| 13 | 14 | | Representative Sergio Muñoz Jr., where she has handled a range of |

| 14 | 15 | | important responsibilities over the course of the legislative |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | session; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Shauna Miller is currently working toward a |

| 17 | 18 | | bachelor's degree in political science and philosophy with a |

| 18 | 19 | | concentration in pre-law at UTPA, and she is expected to graduate in |

| 19 | 20 | | August; in addition to pursuing her studies, she has completed |

| 20 | 21 | | prior internships at a law firm and at the Greater Mission Chamber |

| 21 | 22 | | of Commerce, and she attended the UTPA Law School Preparation |

| 22 | 23 | | Institute this past summer; moreover, she has volunteered her time |

| 23 | 24 | | with several charities and assisted with a voter registration drive |

| 24 | 25 | | in Edinburg through Latino Leadership for Voter Empowerment; and |

| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, This notable young Texan has performed her duties as |

| 26 | 27 | | a legislative intern with skill and dedication, and she has gained |

| 27 | 28 | | valuable leadership experience while learning more about the issues |

| 28 | 29 | | confronting citizens of the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it |

| 29 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 30 | 31 | | Legislature hereby honor Shauna Miller for her participation in the |
