| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Deanna Zimmerman is retiring from the office of |

| 6 | 7 | | State Representative Bill Zedler in 2015, concluding 27 years of |

| 7 | 8 | | distinguished service to the Texas Legislature; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, For more than seven years, Ms. Zimmerman has |

| 9 | 10 | | provided invaluable support to Representative Zedler as his |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | district director and chief of staff; she began her career in the |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | office of State Representative Kent Grusendorf in 1988, and she |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | first joined the staff of Representative Zedler in 2006; for one |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | legislative session, she was employed in the office of |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | Representative Linda Harper-Brown, and she then returned to |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Representative Zedler's staff; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Zimmerman has also made a positive difference in |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | her community through her civic leadership; she has served the |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | Arlington Chamber of Commerce as a two-term member of the |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Governmental Affairs Committee and as an ex-officio member of the |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | Public Policy Advisory Committee; active in the Republican Party, |

| 21 | 22 | | she served two terms as scholarship chair for the Texas Federation |

| 22 | 23 | | of Republican Women, and she was a founding member of the Reagan |

| 23 | 24 | | Legacy Republican Women; moreover, she was named the 2000 Volunteer |

| 24 | 25 | | of the Year by the Tarrant County Republican Party State District |

| 26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Ms. Zimmerman has enjoyed the |

| 27 | 28 | | love and support of her husband of 32 years, John Zimmerman, their |

| 28 | 29 | | children, John Clark, Gregory, and Justin, and their grandchildren, |

| 29 | 30 | | Ravin, Kailey, Payton, Paul, J.C., Garrett, and J.C.; following |

| 30 | 31 | | Ms. Zimmerman's retirement, she and her husband are moving to |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | Whitesboro, where they plan to raise cattle; the couple are also |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | looking forward to taking long trips in their new travel trailer; |

| 34 | 35 | | WHEREAS, Deanna Zimmerman has greatly benefited her fellow |

| 35 | 36 | | citizens over the course of more than a quarter-century in state |

| 36 | 37 | | government, and she may indeed reflect with pride on her |

| 37 | 38 | | accomplishments as she embarks on the next exciting chapter of her |

| 38 | 39 | | life; now, therefore, be it |

| 39 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 40 | 41 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Deanna Zimmerman on her retirement |
