 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, On the morning of September 11, 2001, 19 terrorists
 hijacked four civilian airplanes in the skies over the United
 States; an estimated 3,000 people perished when New York City's
 twin skyscrapers collapsed and the wreckage burned at the Pentagon
 and in the Pennsylvania countryside; and
 WHEREAS, The worst attack on the American people in the
 country's history happened on that horrific day; while that date
 will forever be remembered as one of tragedy and loss, we also
 remember the selfless determination of law enforcement officers,
 firefighters, and other rescue workers who charged into danger that
 morning and in the days after; and
 WHEREAS, United in grief, Americans helped in every way
 possible; we gave blood and said prayers; we performed acts of
 charity and comforted each other; and
 WHEREAS, In December 2001, the U.S. Congress passed a joint
 resolution designating September 11 of each year as Patriot Day; on
 that solemn anniversary, we lower our flags and bow our heads for a
 moment of silence; and
 WHEREAS, Patriot Day is a tribute to the innocent and those
 who died trying to rescue them; it is also a pledge to carry on their
 legacies and remain steadfast in our commitment to our country, our
 neighbors, and our character; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
 Legislature hereby commemorate Patriot Day 2015 and honor with our
 memories and our actions those who were injured and those who died
 in the September 11 attacks.
