| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A 70th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of |

| 6 | 7 | | mutual devotion and shared experiences, and C. W. and Louise Elston |

| 7 | 8 | | of Mineola celebrated this joyous milestone in their marriage on |

| 8 | 9 | | August 24, 2014; and |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Elston were joined in matrimony in 1944 |

| 10 | 11 | | at a ceremony held at the First Methodist Church of Canton, |

| 11 | 12 | | Illinois; through the years, they have been blessed with a |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | treasured family that includes their children, Betsy |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | Elston-Snethen, Richard Elston, Robin Elston, and a |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | daughter-in-law, Brenda Elston, as well as their 7 grandchildren |

| 15 | 16 | | and 12 great-grandchildren; and |

| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Soon after becoming husband and wife, the newlyweds |

| 17 | 18 | | were separated by World War II for two years as Mr. Elston served |

| 18 | 19 | | with the army in Europe and his bride worked for International |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Harvester to support the war effort; returning home after his |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | honorable discharge, Mr. Elston was employed with a bank, became an |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | accountant, and opened an income tax and bookkeeping business in |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | 1949, from which he retired less than five years ago; Mrs. Elston |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | has devoted herself to her home and family throughout their |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | marriage, and she especially enjoys gardening; and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Elston have enjoyed seven decades of |

| 26 | 27 | | abiding love and affection for each other, and they are among an |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a lasting |

| 28 | 29 | | commitment; now, therefore, be it |
