| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |

| 6 | 7 | | passing of Dr. James Stewart Leeves of Naples on August 4, 2014, at |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, James Leeves was born in Dallas on October 9, 1924, |

| 9 | 10 | | to Elijah and Marion Leeves; a graduate of Naples High School and |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | The University of Texas Medical School, he answered his nation's |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | call to duty with service in the U.S. Army; and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, This esteemed physician was instrumental in the |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | founding of David Granberry Memorial Hospital and was a cofounder |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | of the East Texas Clinic; a member of the First United Methodist |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Church of Naples and the Springhill Cemetery Association, he was |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | also a great supporter of education, and he was honored with the |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Pewitt Alumnus Award for his contributions to the Pewitt School, |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | Education Foundation, and Alumni Center, which he played a leading |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | role in establishing; he further served on the Pewitt School Board |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | of Trustees and as the football squad's team doctor; and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Although Dr. Leeves is deeply missed, he leaves |

| 22 | 23 | | behind a legacy that will continue to resonate in his community for |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | years to come, and he will long be fondly remembered by all those |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | who were privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it |

| 25 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 26 | 27 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Dr. James Stewart |

| 27 | 28 | | Leeves and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: |
