| 7 | 8 | | opportunity to honor the legacy of the nation's 40th president; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Born in 1911 in Tampico, Illinois, Ronald Wilson |

| 9 | 10 | | Reagan first made his name as a film actor and later became |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | president of the Screen Actors Guild; in 1966, he was elected |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | governor of California, and ably served in that office until 1975; |

| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Following his victory in the 1980 presidential |

| 14 | 15 | | election, Mr. Reagan began his tenure as the nation's chief |

| 15 | 16 | | executive; faced with a range of daunting challenges that included |

| 16 | 17 | | high unemployment, inflation, and the ongoing cold war with the |

| 17 | 18 | | Soviet Union, he introduced a bold agenda that emphasized economic |
