| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Barbara Edson retired from the Midland County Public |

| 6 | 7 | | Library on January 30, 2015, drawing to a close a notable career as |

| 7 | 8 | | a librarian that has spanned four decades; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A native of Oswego, New York, Ms. Edson studied |

| 9 | 10 | | education and fine arts at the State University of New York, and she |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | moved to Midland in 1973; the following year, she joined the |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | circulation department of the Midland library, and over the course |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | of her exemplary 40-year tenure, she has distinguished herself in a |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | variety of roles, including periodicals librarian and fine arts |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | librarian; she is retiring as supervisor of the library's |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | audiovisual and multimedia department; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, In her free time, this vibrant woman delights in the |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | time she spends outdoors, gardening, and woodworking; she is also a |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | pilot and a motorcycle rider, enthusiasms she shares with her |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | husband, Allan; she owns four of the couple's five motorcycles, |

| 20 | 21 | | including a 1987 Harley-Davidson Sportster; and |

| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Edson's dedication, professionalism, and |

| 22 | 23 | | commitment to excellence have greatly benefited the patrons of the |

| 23 | 24 | | Midland County Public Library while earning her the respect and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | admiration of her colleagues, and she may indeed reflect with pride |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | on a career well spent as she embarks on the next exciting chapter |

| 26 | 27 | | of her life; now, therefore, be it |

| 27 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 28 | 29 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Barbara Edson on her retirement |
