 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Don Allen Poovey is retiring as the assistant fire
 chief of Rowlett Fire Rescue on March 31, 2015, concluding 34 years
 of outstanding service to the community; and
 WHEREAS, Born and raised in Rowlett, Don Poovey joined
 Rowlett Fire Rescue as a volunteer firefighter in 1981 at the age of
 18 and was the second career firefighter to be hired by the
 department; he became a fire medic later that year, and he was
 appointed a lieutenant in 1984; promoted to captain in 1991, he was
 twice chosen to lead the department as interim fire chief, and he
 has been assistant chief since February 2000; and
 WHEREAS, Assistant Chief Poovey holds certifications as an
 advanced firefighter, intermediate instructor, and fire inspector
 from the Texas Commission on Fire Protection; he has been
 recognized on numerous occasions for his dedicated efforts in the
 line of duty, receiving the Fire Officer of the Year, Supervisor of
 the Year, and Rowlett Employee of the Year honors as well as the
 Fire Department Outstanding Service Award; and
 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Assistant Chief Poovey enjoys
 the love and support of his wife, Lisa, his children, Ashley and
 Jacob, and his grandson, Alex; in retirement, he plans to spend more
 time working on home improvement projects and traveling the
 country; and
 WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure with Rowlett Fire Rescue, Don
 Poovey has demonstrated exemplary leadership while devoting
 himself to protecting the lives and property of his fellow
 citizens, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a distinguished
 career; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Don Allen Poovey on his retirement
 as assistant fire chief of Rowlett Fire Rescue and extend to him
 best wishes for the future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Assistant Chief Poovey as an expression of high regard
 by the Texas House of Representatives.
