| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Established in 1957, the National Academy of |

| 10 | 11 | | professionals dedicated to improving quality of life for all |

| 11 | 12 | | members of the industry; the Texas chapter was founded in 1998 to |

| 12 | 13 | | serve the vibrant music community in the Lone Star State, where it |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | is estimated that nearly 150,000 jobs are connected to the |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | business; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, The many initiatives of the National Academy include |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | professional development, cultural enrichment, advocacy, |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | education, and human services programs; moreover, it has promoted |

| 18 | 19 | | excellence for more than a half-century as the sponsor of the |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | internationally famous Grammy Awards; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Texas artists and professionals won 13 awards at the |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | 57th Annual Grammy Awards, conferred on February 8, 2015; according |

| 22 | 23 | | to the Texas Music Office, created by the legislature to promote and |

| 23 | 24 | | support the state's music industry, talented individuals born or |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | based in the state received a total of 35 Grammy nominations in |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | 2015; among the many Texas genres represented were blues, folk, |

| 26 | 27 | | country, contemporary Christian, gospel, jazz, mariachi, R&B, pop, |

| 27 | 28 | | and rap, reflecting the richness of our state's artistic heritage; |

| 29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Recording Academy Texas Chapter |
