| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Members of Leadership Gainesville are visiting the |

| 6 | 7 | | State Capitol on February 18, 2015, and this occasion provides a |

| 7 | 8 | | fitting opportunity to honor this esteemed organization and the |

| 8 | 9 | | town it represents; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Leadership Gainesville was established in 1989 to |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | seek out and train well-informed, civic-minded individuals who are |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | interested in holding voluntary positions of responsibility in the |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | community; sponsored by the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce, |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | which recently celebrated a milestone when it reached 500 members, |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | the group includes members from a variety of backgrounds, as well as |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | persons of different ages; among this year's class are two |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | outstanding high school students, Bailey Sharp and Nereida Puente; |

| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Gainesville is known for offering a high quality of |

| 19 | 20 | | life in a small-town setting; designated as a Medal of Honor Host |

| 20 | 21 | | City and named Most Patriotic Small Town in America by USA Today and |

| 21 | 22 | | Rand McNally, the community is known for its historic homes, the |

| 22 | 23 | | Morton Museum, the beautifully restored courthouse, and the |

| 23 | 24 | | downtown business district; also recognized for its friendly, |

| 24 | 25 | | welcoming residents, Gainesville has been dubbed "The Front Porch |

| 25 | 26 | | To Texas"; and |

| 26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Leadership Gainesville is promoting the spirit of |

| 27 | 28 | | volunteerism and hometown pride that are defining characteristics |

| 28 | 29 | | of Gainesville, and by fostering an informed and engaged citizenry, |

| 29 | 30 | | the program is helping to build a brighter and more prosperous |

| 30 | 31 | | future for the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it |

| 31 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 32 | 33 | | Legislature hereby welcome members of Leadership Gainesville to the |
