|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The University of Houston System is composed of the |

| 10 | 11 | | University of Houston, the University of Houston-Clear Lake, the |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | University of Houston-Downtown, and the University of |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Houston-Victoria, and off-campus teaching centers UH-Sugar Land, |

| 13 | 14 | | UHS-Cinco Ranch, UHCL-Pearland, UHS-Northwest, and UHS-Texas |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | Medical Center; with a current enrollment of over 68,000 students |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | in Southeast Texas and the Coastal Bend region, UH System |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | components are meeting higher education needs in an area that is |

| 17 | 18 | | home to a quarter of the state's population and that generates |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | nearly a third of the state's gross product; and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, More than 345,000 students have graduated from the |

| 20 | 21 | | four UH System universities, and a great majority of them remain in |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | Texas to live and work, thereby adding to the economic and social |

| 22 | 23 | | vitality of the state, and the regional economic impact of the |
|---|

| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Today, the system benefits from the able leadership |
