| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Respected businessperson Linda A. Tovar is being |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Each year, the UTPA Alumni Association celebrates a |

| 10 | 11 | | select group of distinguished alumni for their professional |

| 11 | 12 | | excellence and for their service to the community and their alma |

| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, A native of the Rio Grande Valley, Linda Tovar |

| 14 | 15 | | earned her bachelor's degree in business administration from UTPA |

| 15 | 16 | | in 2008; she is currently H-E-B's senior manager of public affairs |

| 16 | 17 | | for the border region, serving as the company's spokesperson and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | overseeing its community relations and philanthropic efforts in the |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | area; and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Tovar has also served the company as operations |

| 20 | 21 | | leader for the Mission No. 3 store and the McAllen No. 2 store, and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | she previously worked as director of operations for the Boys and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | Girls Clubs of McAllen; and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Benefiting from the solid educational foundation |

| 24 | 25 | | that she received at UTPA, Linda Tovar has embarked upon a |

| 25 | 26 | | successful career in the business world and made a positive |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | difference in her community, and she is indeed a worthy recipient of |

| 27 | 28 | | this prestigious honor; now, therefore, be it |

| 28 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 29 | 30 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Linda A. Tovar on her selection as |
