| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and |

| 7 | 8 | | of Dr. David Howell McCarley of McKinney, who passed away on |

| 8 | 9 | | January 4, 2015, at the age of 61; and |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, David McCarley was born in Austin on September 2, |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | 1953, to L. B. McCarley and Mary Ann Van Landingham-McCarley; he |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | graduated from McKinney High School in 1971 and went on to become a |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | loyal Red Raider fan while earning a bachelor's degree in |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | microbiology from Texas Tech University; after working at Texas |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | Tech and the University of Arizona, he attended the Baylor College |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | of Dentistry, where he obtained his doctoral degree in dental |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | surgery in 1981; and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, For more than 30 years, Dr. McCarley owned and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | operated McCarley Restorative and Cosmetic Family Dentistry in |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | McKinney; his wealth of knowledge and experience, along with his |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | kindness and compassion, served many in the community well over the |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | years; and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Dr. McCarley further benefited his professional |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | peers through his involvement in a variety of dental organizations; |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | he served with the Texas Dental Association for many years and was |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | the youngest member elected to the board of directors, and, in May |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | 2014, he was named president of the organization; in addition, he |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | shared his expertise as president of the Fourth District Dental |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | Society in North Texas and served on the 2008 American Dental |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | Association Council on Ethics, Bylaws, and Judicial Affairs; his |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | charitable spirit and devotion to his community led him to |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America, the Kiwanis Club, and |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | Ducks Unlimited, and he was also a member of St. Gabriel Catholic |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | Church in McKinney; and |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Dr. McCarley enjoyed the love |

| 35 | 36 | | and support of his wife, Lee Ann; the couple enjoyed traveling and |
|---|
| 36 | 37 | | riding motorcycles, and they delighted in spending time together at |
|---|
| 37 | 38 | | their farm, The ToothAchers Ranch; and |
|---|
| 38 | 39 | | WHEREAS, While the passing of David McCarley brings great |
|---|
| 39 | 40 | | sadness to his family and friends, he leaves behind a legacy that |
|---|
| 40 | 41 | | will long be treasured by all those who were privileged to know him; |
|---|
| 41 | 42 | | now, therefore, be it |

| 42 | 43 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
