| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, February 21 to 28, 2015, has been set aside as |

| 6 | 7 | | National FFA Week, and in conjunction with this observance, |

| 7 | 8 | | members, advisors, and guests of the Texas FFA Association are |

| 8 | 9 | | gathering in Austin on February 24, 2015, to celebrate Texas FFA Day |

| 9 | 10 | | at the State Capitol; and |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, For nearly 100 years, FFA has helped youth develop |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | knowledge and skills related to agriculture, food, and natural |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | resources; the FFA program is integral to a three-part educational |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | model that also encompasses classroom instruction and supervised |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | agricultural experiences, which may include such activities as |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | starting a business or working in production or for an established |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | company; and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, This noteworthy organization fosters good |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | citizenship and strong leadership in Texas schools, and over the |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | course of its long history, it has produced many outstanding |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | community, state, and national leaders of industry, education, and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | government, including many members who have served in this chamber; |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | and |

| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, The largest FFA organization in the country, the |

| 24 | 25 | | Texas association has more than 106,000 members and is guided by |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | elected officers who each represent one of the state's 10 FFA areas; |

| 26 | 27 | | each year, the organization awards more than $2 million in |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | scholarships to deserving members who have demonstrated academic |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | excellence, career readiness, and preparation for effective civic |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | engagement; and |

| 30 | 31 | | WHEREAS, The Texas FFA Association contributes immeasurably |

| 31 | 32 | | to the success of agricultural, career, and technical education, |

| 32 | 33 | | and in so doing, it has greatly enhanced the prosperity of the Lone |

| 33 | 34 | | Star State; now, therefore, be it |

| 34 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 35 | 36 | | Legislature hereby recognize February 24, 2015, as Texas FFA Day at |
