5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Residents of Sabine County lost an admired public |

6 | 7 | | official and a cherished friend with the passing of the Honorable |

7 | 8 | | Charles Edward Watson on April 8, 2014, at the age of 78; and |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Born in Centralia on October 6, 1935, to O. B. and |

9 | 10 | | Mary Watson, Charles Watson served in the United States Air Force |
---|
10 | 11 | | from 1955 to 1959; following his return to civilian life, he enjoyed |
---|
11 | 12 | | a successful career with CenterPoint Energy that spanned more than |
---|
12 | 13 | | three and a half decades; and |
---|
13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, This esteemed gentleman moved to Rosevine in 1996 |
---|
14 | 15 | | and was first elected to public office a decade later, when the |
---|
15 | 16 | | voters of Sabine County selected him as county judge; his |
---|
16 | 17 | | exceptional efforts earned him reelection in 2010, and he continued |
---|
17 | 18 | | to gain the respect of colleagues and area residents alike; known |
---|
18 | 19 | | for his encouraging attitude and his concern for others, Judge |
---|
19 | 20 | | Watson worked tirelessly to advance the common good and exemplified |
---|
20 | 21 | | the highest standards of public service; and |
---|
21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, A caring husband and father, Judge Watson shared |
---|
22 | 23 | | many rewarding years with his wife, Barbara, and took great pride in |
---|
23 | 24 | | their three children, Wyatt, Damon, and Deena; with the passing of |
---|
24 | 25 | | time, he also had the pleasure of seeing his family grow to include |

25 | 26 | | 8 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; Judge Watson attended |

26 | 27 | | First United Methodist Church in Hemphill, where he was a valued |

27 | 28 | | member of the congregation; and |

28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Devoted to his family and his community, Charles |

29 | 30 | | Watson made a meaningful difference in the lives of his loved ones |

30 | 31 | | and fellow citizens alike, and although he is deeply missed, his |

31 | 32 | | contributions will be fondly remembered for years to come; now, |
