45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Residents of Sabine County lost an admired public
67 official and a cherished friend with the passing of the Honorable
78 Charles Edward Watson on April 8, 2014, at the age of 78; and
89 WHEREAS, Born in Centralia on October 6, 1935, to O. B. and
910 Mary Watson, Charles Watson served in the United States Air Force
1011 from 1955 to 1959; following his return to civilian life, he enjoyed
1112 a successful career with CenterPoint Energy that spanned more than
1213 three and a half decades; and
1314 WHEREAS, This esteemed gentleman moved to Rosevine in 1996
1415 and was first elected to public office a decade later, when the
1516 voters of Sabine County selected him as county judge; his
1617 exceptional efforts earned him reelection in 2010, and he continued
1718 to gain the respect of colleagues and area residents alike; known
1819 for his encouraging attitude and his concern for others, Judge
1920 Watson worked tirelessly to advance the common good and exemplified
2021 the highest standards of public service; and
2122 WHEREAS, A caring husband and father, Judge Watson shared
2223 many rewarding years with his wife, Barbara, and took great pride in
2324 their three children, Wyatt, Damon, and Deena; with the passing of
2425 time, he also had the pleasure of seeing his family grow to include
2526 8 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; Judge Watson attended
2627 First United Methodist Church in Hemphill, where he was a valued
2728 member of the congregation; and
2829 WHEREAS, Devoted to his family and his community, Charles
2930 Watson made a meaningful difference in the lives of his loved ones
3031 and fellow citizens alike, and although he is deeply missed, his
3132 contributions will be fondly remembered for years to come; now,
3233 therefore, be it
3334 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
3435 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of the Honorable Charles
3536 Edward Watson and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his
3637 family: to his wife, Barbara Watson; to his sons and their spouses,
3738 Wyatt Watson and his wife, Vicky, and Damon Watson and his wife,
3839 Sherry; to his daughter, Deena Nutt, and her husband, Harold; to his
3940 sisters and their spouses, Fayrene Tomlinson and her husband, Ray,
4041 and Barbara Laughlin and her husband, Jimmy; to his grandchildren
4142 and great-grandchildren; and to his other relatives and many
4243 friends; and, be it further
4344 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4445 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4546 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Judge
4647 Charles E. Watson.
