| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, For more than five years, Honor Flight DFW has given |

| 6 | 7 | | North Texas veterans of World War II the opportunity to visit the |

| 7 | 8 | | war memorials in our nation's capital; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Established in September 2008, this notable |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | endeavor offers veterans an all-expense paid overnight trip to |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | Washington, D.C.; the two-day visit includes stops at the memorials |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | for World War II, the Korean War, and Vietnam, as well as the |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | U.S. Marine Corps, Navy, and Air Force Memorials and Arlington |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | National Cemetery; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Veterans on honor flight trips have also had the |

| 15 | 16 | | opportunity to meet the wounded warriors and military staff at |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Walter Reed National Military Medical Center; they return to a |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | hero's welcome at DFW International Airport, and a few months |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | later, they receive a book of photographs, a CD, and a souvenir |

| 19 | 20 | | video recording their experience; making two flights a year, in May |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | and October, the program has taken more than 600 veterans to |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | Washington to date; and |

| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, By enabling these patriotic Americans to come |

| 23 | 24 | | together one more time in mutual fellowship and in tribute to their |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | fallen comrades, the men and women of Honor Flight DFW are |

| 25 | 26 | | performing a deeply meaningful service in recognition of the |

| 26 | 27 | | sacrifice of those who have so ably served this nation; now, |

| 27 | 28 | | therefore, be it |

| 28 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 29 | 30 | | Legislature hereby celebrate Honor Flight DFW and extend to the |

| 30 | 31 | | organization's staff, volunteers, and honored veterans sincere |
