| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Foster Kids Charity of Dallas has provided valuable |

| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Foster Kids Charity distributes care packages that |

| 8 | 9 | | contain clothing, toiletries, school supplies, and healthy food |

| 9 | 10 | | items to youths in the state foster care system, working to ensure |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | that their basic needs are met during a period that is often marked |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | by upheaval and uncertainty; the group organizes a monthly drive to |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | collect items for the packages, and it also helps the children by |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | hosting social events, such as movie nights and holiday parties; |

| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Foster Kids Charity has expanded its efforts by |

| 16 | 17 | | partnering with like-minded organizations in the Galveston area, |

| 17 | 18 | | and in January 2015 the groups opened a donation bank to aid |

| 18 | 19 | | children in that city and surrounding counties; and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Throughout its history, Foster Kids Charity has |

| 20 | 21 | | benefited from the steady guidance of Michelle Armour, the group's |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | founder and the president of its board of directors; the |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | organization has served more than 25,000 children since its |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | inception, and it has been honored with the Best Community Partner |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | Award from Child Protective Services; and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, With the worthy goal of increasing the well-being of |

| 26 | 27 | | foster children in Texas, Foster Kids Charity makes important |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | contributions to assist some of the state's most vulnerable |

| 28 | 29 | | residents, and it indeed merits special recognition for its |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | achievements and service; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 31 | 32 | | Legislature hereby honor Foster Kids Charity and extend to all |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | those associated with the organization sincere best wishes for the |
|---|
