| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, During this festive event each Christmas season, |

| 9 | 10 | | residents of Lake Highlands generously open their beautiful homes |

| 10 | 11 | | to generate funds in support of local schools and libraries, |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | nonprofit organizations, and scholarships for students at Lake |

| 12 | 13 | | Highlands High School; this year, the tour raised $213,195, a sum |

| 13 | 14 | | that exceeded last year's total by more than $15,000 and that |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | represented the highest amount ever raised by the tour; and |

| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Since 1969, the Lake Highlands Women's League has |

| 16 | 17 | | dedicated itself to uniting and promoting Lake Highlands through |

| 17 | 18 | | community service; over the past 45 years, the LHWL has awarded more |

| 18 | 19 | | than $2.1 million to worthy causes, giving $1.5 million to |

| 19 | 20 | | scholarship funds alone, and each year, league members contribute |

| 20 | 21 | | over 2,500 volunteer hours; in addition to the Home Tour, members |

| 21 | 22 | | sponsor a collection each September for the Network of Community |

| 22 | 23 | | Ministries, and every spring, they express their appreciation to |

| 23 | 24 | | local police officers and firefighters with a bountiful array of |

| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, The civic groups of the Lone Star State play an |
