| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Mount St. Michael Catholic School in the Oak Cliff |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, An educational apostolate of the Christian |

| 9 | 10 | | Community of God's Delight, MSMCS began as the Prince of Peace |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | Community School in 1986; classes were initially held for preschool |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | through fourth-grade students, and one grade level was added during |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | each of the next four years until the current eighth-grade level was |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | reached; the name was changed to Mount St. Michael Catholic School |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | in 2007; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, MSMCS employs a classical curriculum known as the |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | trivium, a three-phased approach that emphasizes grammar, logic, |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | and rhetoric and includes the mandatory study of Latin starting in |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | the first grade; in addition, students have the opportunity to |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | participate in artistic pursuits such as band, art, and dance while |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | also taking part in traditional religious studies; and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, The institution is also home to the only accredited |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | Catholic Montessori school in the Dallas-Fort Worth area; |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | established in 1978, the program currently serves children ages |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | three to five; and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Because of the thorough work of MSMCS educators, |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | many of the school's alumni are making their mark on society, |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | including those who are pursuing advanced academic degrees in our |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | nation's colleges or participating in holy orders; and |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Over the last three decades, the faculty and staff |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | of Mount St. Michael Catholic School have committed themselves to |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | meeting the educational needs of their students, and the school has |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | played a vital role in helping many young Texans build a bright and |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | prosperous future; now, therefore, be it |

| 34 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 35 | 36 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the 30th anniversary of Mount |

| 36 | 37 | | St. Michael Catholic School and extend to all those associated with |

| 37 | 38 | | the institution sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be |
