 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Proud residents of Wylie are gathering in Austin on
 March 3 and 4, 2015, to celebrate Wylie Days at the State Capitol;
 and
 WHEREAS, Wylie was organized in the early 1870s and
 incorporated in 1887 with the arrival of the Gulf, Colorado, and
 Santa Fe Railway; the city has grown immensely since its early days
 on the Texas frontier, and it currently boasts a population of
 nearly 45,000, almost triple the number reported in the 2000
 census; and
 WHEREAS, Today, the City of Wylie, Wylie Independent School
 District, Wylie Chamber of Commerce, and Wylie Economic Development
 Corporation are working in concert to build a strong community that
 strives to honor the past, embrace the present, and plan for the
 future, while valuing unity, relationships, and trust; and
 WHEREAS, Recently called one of the best small cities in the
 country in which to raise a family, Wylie fosters a spirit of
 cooperation that leads to a thriving business environment and
 outstanding schools; moreover, while it is one of the fastest
 growing communities in the state, its crime rate decreased by five
 percent in 2014, and Wylie Fire Rescue is one of only 13 departments
 in the state to earn the highest Public Protection Classification
 rating; and
 WHEREAS, Celebrating their rich and colorful history as they
 work together to build a bright future, the citizens of Wylie may
 take justifiable pride in their hometown; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
 Legislature hereby recognize March 3 and 4, 2015, as Wylie Days at
 the State Capitol and extend sincere best wishes to the visiting
 delegation for an informative and enjoyable stay in Austin.
