45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and
67 meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends
78 of Josephine Longoria of Edinburg, who passed away on January 8,
89 2015, at the age of 58; and
910 WHEREAS, Born on July 29, 1956, to C. J. and Dorothy Dufour,
1011 Jody Longoria grew up in Edinburg with three older sisters; she
1112 attended St. Joseph's Catholic School as a young girl and later
1213 graduated from Edinburg High School, where she was a member of the
1314 school choir and volleyball team; she went on to earn a degree from
1415 Texas A&I University before spending 17 years as a supervisor with
1516 the Texas Department of Human Services; she eventually found her
1617 true calling in the classroom, dedicating nearly two decades of her
1718 life as a teacher at Johnny G. Economedes High School; and
1819 WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan frequently volunteered her time
1920 with a number of worthwhile community organizations, including
2021 local 4H and FFA clubs, the Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show, and
2122 the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America; and
2223 WHEREAS, Blessed with a loving family, Mrs. Longoria enjoyed
2324 34 years of rewarding marriage with her husband, Osvaldo; she was
2425 the devoted mother of two sons, Justin and Kyle, and she later knew
2526 the joy of welcoming a grandson, Luke, into her cherished family;
2627 and
2728 WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Jody Longoria
2829 will remember the way she touched their lives with her warmth,
2930 optimism, and wonderful sense of humor, and she will forever hold a
3031 treasured place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
3132 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
3233 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Josephine Longoria
3334 and extend deepest sympathy to the members of her family: to her
3435 husband, Osvaldo Longoria Jr.; to her sons, Justin Longoria and his
3536 wife, Glenda, and Kyle Longoria; to her grandson, Luke Longoria; to
3637 her sisters, Laura Crist and her husband, Bobby, Norma Perez and her
3738 husband, Ralph, and Adell Dufour; and to her other relatives and
3839 friends; and, be it further
3940 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4041 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
4142 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jody
4243 Longoria.
