45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, The members of Girl Scout Troop 35 of Greater South
67 Texas have served their community in myriad ways, and they are
78 indeed deserving of special recognition; and
89 WHEREAS, Dedicated to building character and developing
910 confident, socially aware young women, the Girl Scout program of
1011 Greater South Texas is helping participants to discover how they
1112 can further the Girl Scout mission of making the world a better
1213 place; and
1314 WHEREAS, Representing the McAllen, Mission, and Edinburg
1415 school districts, members of Girl Scout Troop 35 have performed
1516 extensive community service; among the many organizations to have
1617 benefited from their efforts have been the Edinburg Children's
1718 Hospital, where they sang carols during the holidays and
1819 handcrafted puzzle books for pediatric patients, the Retama Nursing
1920 Home, where they made Christmas ornaments for residents, and the
2021 Palm Valley Animal Shelter, where they walked and played with the
2122 animals, cleaned kennels, and donated newspapers to line cages; the
2223 scouts have also sent letters to soldiers, organized food drives,
2324 and provided meals to families in need, as well as donated relief
2425 items to victims of Hurricane Katrina and the tornado outbreak in
2526 Kokomo, Indiana; and
2627 WHEREAS, Members of Troop 35 include Ambassadors Kassandra
2728 Peña, Jessica Vasquez, and Jacqueline Vasquez; Senior Cadets
2829 Victoria Alvarez, Destiny Morales, Ashlynn Russell, and Maraya
2930 Garcia; Cadets Clarissa Alvarez, Maegan Carithers, Tanya
3031 Carithers, Joanna Cruz, Yazmin Galvan, Kathleen Zamora, and Erika
3132 Rivera; Junior Cadets Sophia Handy, Sarah Gonzalez, Erin Krska,
3233 Carina Ramirez, Sydnee Rodriguez, Katelyn Saenz, and Annette
3334 Valdez; and Brownies Julie Arredondo and Olivia Handy; the troop
3435 benefits from the able guidance and tireless dedication of Michele
3536 Pena; and
3637 WHEREAS, By volunteering their time and talents, the members
3738 of Girl Scout Troop 35 of Greater South Texas are enriching
3839 countless lives and developing into engaged, thoughtful citizens
3940 who realize the value of giving back; now, therefore, be it
4041 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
4142 Legislature hereby commend the members of Girl Scout Troop 35 of
4243 Greater South Texas for their service to their community and extend
4344 to all involved with the troop sincere best wishes for the future;
4445 and, be it further
4546 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4647 prepared for the troop as an expression of high regard by the Texas
4748 House of Representatives.
