| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Dedicated to building character and developing |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | confident, socially aware young women, the Girl Scout program of |

| 10 | 11 | | Greater South Texas is helping participants to discover how they |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | can further the Girl Scout mission of making the world a better |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | place; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Representing the McAllen, Mission, and Edinburg |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | school districts, members of Girl Scout Troop 35 have performed |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | extensive community service; among the many organizations to have |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | benefited from their efforts have been the Edinburg Children's |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Hospital, where they sang carols during the holidays and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | handcrafted puzzle books for pediatric patients, the Retama Nursing |

| 19 | 20 | | Home, where they made Christmas ornaments for residents, and the |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | Palm Valley Animal Shelter, where they walked and played with the |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | animals, cleaned kennels, and donated newspapers to line cages; the |

| 22 | 23 | | scouts have also sent letters to soldiers, organized food drives, |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | and provided meals to families in need, as well as donated relief |

| 24 | 25 | | items to victims of Hurricane Katrina and the tornado outbreak in |

| 25 | 26 | | Kokomo, Indiana; and |
