45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Kayla Marie Atkinson of Livingston inspired many
67 people with her sincere tribute to the peace officers of Polk County
78 on February 6, 2015; and
89 WHEREAS, Although she is only nine years old, Kayla has
910 demonstrated exceptional compassion for the men and women who work
1011 to keep her community safe; inspired by a YouTube video titled "Dear
1112 Officer, I See You," she decided to cut construction paper into
1213 heart shapes, write messages of thanks and encouragement on each,
1314 and present them to officers at the Polk County Sheriff's
1415 Department; and
1516 WHEREAS, Livingston Police Chief Dennis Clifton, Polk County
1617 Sheriff Ken Hammack, and officers, detectives, constables, and game
1718 wardens from across the area were present to receive Kayla's sweet
1819 handiwork; and
1920 WHEREAS, Through her creativity and generosity, Kayla
2021 Atkinson brought good cheer to local law enforcement officers, and
2122 in so doing, she has touched the lives of many and set an example of
2223 kindness and appreciation to which people of all ages may aspire;
2324 now, therefore, be it
2425 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
2526 Legislature hereby recognize Kayla Marie Atkinson for her
2627 thoughtful deed and extend to her sincere best wishes for the
2728 future; and, be it further
2829 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2930 prepared for Kayla as an expression of high regard by the Texas
3031 House of Representatives.
