| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Established in 1961, National Youth Art Month is |

| 10 | 11 | | held every March to highlight the importance of art education and |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | encourage support for quality school art programs; exhibitions |

| 12 | 13 | | across the nation showcase the creativity of young artists, and in |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | Texas, the public can enjoy their work at community centers, |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | galleries, schools, and other venues; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, The curators for Youth Art Month chose Sophia |

| 16 | 17 | | Price's painting titled "Night Owl" for inclusion in the 2015 |

| 17 | 18 | | exhibition, and she is one of only three kindergarteners to achieve |

| 18 | 19 | | this honor; the talent and creativity reflected in her work |

| 19 | 20 | | demonstrate the value of providing instruction to even the youngest |

| 20 | 21 | | students and the benefit of encouraging them to express themselves |

| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Sophia Price has distinguished herself at a very |

| 23 | 24 | | early age, and the selection of her painting for the Youth Art Month |

| 24 | 25 | | exhibition is a source of pride to her family, her fellow students, |

| 25 | 26 | | and the faculty of University Park Elementary School; now, |

| 27 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
