5	6		WHEREAS, Colin Kimball of McKinney earned well-deserved
6	7		recognition for his outstanding volunteerism and patriotism when he
7	8		received the Silver Patrick Henry Medallion from the Dallas chapter
8	9		of the Military Order of the World Wars on January 26, 2015; and
9	10		WHEREAS, Following in his father's footsteps, Mr. Kimball
10	11		answered his nation's call to duty in 1976 by enlisting in the
11	12		United States Air Force; while in the service, he trained as a
12	13		weather equipment repairman and worked at airfields and helipads
13	14		around Washington, D.C., in support of diplomatic flight operations
14	15		of the executive branch; he attained the rank of sergeant prior to
15	16		his honorable discharge; and
16	17		WHEREAS, After returning to civilian life, Mr. Kimball
17	18		earned a bachelor's degree in geology from Centenary College of
18	19		Louisiana and a master's degree in the same field from the
19	20		University of Louisiana at Monroe; moreover, he developed his
20	21		remarkable talent and enthusiasm for portraiture as a photography
21	22		apprentice; and
22	23		WHEREAS, In 2013, Mr. Kimball, along with Marine Corps
23	24		veteran Ronnie Foster, founded the Collin County Fallen Warriors
24	25		Portrait Project, which pays homage to area Texans who have died in
25	26		service to their country; artworks created for the initiative adorn
26	27		the walls of the county courthouse in McKinney; other portraits by
27	28		Mr. Kimball of American military heroes are on display at military
28	29		bases at Quantico, Virginia, and Vicenza, Italy, at The University
29	30		of Texas at Austin, and in private collections across the country;
30	31		and
31	32		WHEREAS, Mr. Kimball has published a volume of his portraits,
32	33		Currency of Honor, which has helped raise funds in behalf of the
33	34		Wounded Warrior Project, and he is currently working on his second
34	35		book, The Voices of Duty; he has also given generously of his time
35	36		and expertise as the historian for Bill Bryan Post 110 of the
36	37		American Legion in McKinney and as a member of the local Veterans
37	38		Memorial Board and of the Veterans Selection Committee for the
38	39		McKinney-based Smiles Charity; and
39	40		WHEREAS, A devoted family man, Mr. Kimball is the loving
40	41		husband of Susan Kimball, with whom he has shared a rewarding union
41	42		of nearly three decades, and he takes great pride in his two
42	43		children, Catherine and Craig; and
43	44		WHEREAS, Colin Kimball has gone above and beyond in helping
44	45		to ensure that our military members and veterans are appropriately
45	46		honored, and his outstanding service to his community and his
46	47		nation have earned him the profound respect and admiration of his
47	48		fellow Texans; now, therefore, be it
48	49		RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
49	50		Legislature hereby congratulate Colin Kimball on his receipt of the
50	51		Silver Patrick Henry Medallion from the Military Order of the World
51	52		Wars and extend to him sincere appreciation for his many good works;
52	53		and, be it further
53	54		RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
54	55		prepared for Mr. Kimball as an expression of high regard by the
55	56		Texas House of Representatives.
