45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Colin Kimball of McKinney earned well-deserved
67 recognition for his outstanding volunteerism and patriotism when he
78 received the Silver Patrick Henry Medallion from the Dallas chapter
89 of the Military Order of the World Wars on January 26, 2015; and
910 WHEREAS, Following in his father's footsteps, Mr. Kimball
1011 answered his nation's call to duty in 1976 by enlisting in the
1112 United States Air Force; while in the service, he trained as a
1213 weather equipment repairman and worked at airfields and helipads
1314 around Washington, D.C., in support of diplomatic flight operations
1415 of the executive branch; he attained the rank of sergeant prior to
1516 his honorable discharge; and
1617 WHEREAS, After returning to civilian life, Mr. Kimball
1718 earned a bachelor's degree in geology from Centenary College of
1819 Louisiana and a master's degree in the same field from the
1920 University of Louisiana at Monroe; moreover, he developed his
2021 remarkable talent and enthusiasm for portraiture as a photography
2122 apprentice; and
2223 WHEREAS, In 2013, Mr. Kimball, along with Marine Corps
2324 veteran Ronnie Foster, founded the Collin County Fallen Warriors
2425 Portrait Project, which pays homage to area Texans who have died in
2526 service to their country; artworks created for the initiative adorn
2627 the walls of the county courthouse in McKinney; other portraits by
2728 Mr. Kimball of American military heroes are on display at military
2829 bases at Quantico, Virginia, and Vicenza, Italy, at The University
2930 of Texas at Austin, and in private collections across the country;
3031 and
3132 WHEREAS, Mr. Kimball has published a volume of his portraits,
3233 Currency of Honor, which has helped raise funds in behalf of the
3334 Wounded Warrior Project, and he is currently working on his second
3435 book, The Voices of Duty; he has also given generously of his time
3536 and expertise as the historian for Bill Bryan Post 110 of the
3637 American Legion in McKinney and as a member of the local Veterans
3738 Memorial Board and of the Veterans Selection Committee for the
3839 McKinney-based Smiles Charity; and
3940 WHEREAS, A devoted family man, Mr. Kimball is the loving
4041 husband of Susan Kimball, with whom he has shared a rewarding union
4142 of nearly three decades, and he takes great pride in his two
4243 children, Catherine and Craig; and
4344 WHEREAS, Colin Kimball has gone above and beyond in helping
4445 to ensure that our military members and veterans are appropriately
4546 honored, and his outstanding service to his community and his
4647 nation have earned him the profound respect and admiration of his
4748 fellow Texans; now, therefore, be it
4849 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
4950 Legislature hereby congratulate Colin Kimball on his receipt of the
5051 Silver Patrick Henry Medallion from the Military Order of the World
5152 Wars and extend to him sincere appreciation for his many good works;
5253 and, be it further
5354 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
5455 prepared for Mr. Kimball as an expression of high regard by the
5556 Texas House of Representatives.
