5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Jeanne Israel is concluding her service as a member |

6 | 7 | | of the Pleasanton City Council in May 2015; and |

7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A native of San Antonio, Ms. Israel moved to |
---|
8 | 9 | | Atascosa County in 1982 to begin working at the San Miguel Electric |
---|
9 | 10 | | Power Plant, where she earned the distinction of becoming the first |
---|
10 | 11 | | female fuel and ash operator; after concluding her 16-year career |
---|
11 | 12 | | there, she founded the trucking company Errand Girl Services in |
---|
12 | 13 | | 1999, and the following year, she was named treasurer of the Camino |
---|
13 | 14 | | Real-Atascosa County Mental Health Center; and |
---|
14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan was elected District 6 |
---|
15 | 16 | | representative of the Pleasanton City Council in 2009, and her |
---|
16 | 17 | | outstanding efforts quickly garnered her the respect of her |
---|
17 | 18 | | colleagues and the loyalty of voters, who returned her to two more |
---|
18 | 19 | | terms in office; and |
---|
19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Israel has further benefited her community |
---|
20 | 21 | | through her volunteer work in behalf of numerous worthwhile |
---|
21 | 22 | | organizations, most notably the Pleasanton Lions Club, which has |
---|
22 | 23 | | twice named her Lion of the Year; in addition, she was presented |
---|
23 | 24 | | with the 2014 Humanitarian Award by the Order of the Sons of Hermann |
---|
24 | 25 | | in the State of Texas Lodge No. 310 and the 2001 Business Person of |
---|
25 | 26 | | the Year Award by the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce; and |
---|
26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, In all of her endeavors, Ms. Israel is blessed with |
---|
27 | 28 | | the love and support of her husband, John, with whom she has shared |
---|
28 | 29 | | more than three rewarding decades of marriage, and she takes |
---|
29 | 30 | | tremendous pride in their daughter, Alicia; and |
---|
30 | 31 | | WHEREAS, The dedicated work that Jeanne Israel has carried |
---|
31 | 32 | | out during her six-year tenure on the city council has made a |
---|
32 | 33 | | positive difference in the lives of Pleasanton residents, and she |
---|
33 | 34 | | is indeed deserving of recognition for her accomplishments; now, |
---|
34 | 35 | | therefore, be it |

35 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

36 | 37 | | Legislature hereby commend Jeanne Israel for her service on the |

37 | 38 | | Pleasanton City Council and extend to her sincere best wishes for |
