44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Section 27, Article I, Texas Constitution, states
66 "The citizens shall have the right, in a peaceable manner,
77 to . . . apply to those invested with the powers of government for
88 redress of grievances or other purposes, by petition, address or
99 remonstrance"; and
1010 WHEREAS, The members of the Texas House of Representatives
1111 are committed to the right of the citizens of Texas to apply to
1212 those invested with the powers of government for redress of
1313 grievances; and
1414 WHEREAS, The current e-mail addresses for the members and
1515 staff of the Texas House of Representatives are long, complex, and
1616 difficult to relay verbally, making it more difficult for the
1717 citizens of Texas to contact their elected representatives; now,
1818 therefore, be it
1919 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
2020 Legislature hereby request the House Committee on Administration to
2121 make available to the members and staff of the Texas House of
2222 Representatives e-mail addresses with the top-level domain ".gov"
2323 and with a domain name substantially similar to "@texashouse.gov";
2424 and, be it further
2525 RESOLVED, That if the committee decides to make such e-mail
2626 addresses available, the committee decline to use the domain names
2727 "@house.tx.gov" and "@house.texas.gov"; and, be it further
2828 RESOLVED, That if the committee decides to make such e-mail
2929 addresses available, such e-mail addresses be made available not
3030 later than January 1, 2018, and the current e-mail addresses of the
3131 house be withdrawn from service not later than December 31, 2018.
