| 7 | 8 | | Chalk Mountain on March 4, 2014, at the age of 57; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Jeff Young was born in Fort Worth on February 21, |

| 9 | 10 | | 1957, to Hollis and Carolyn Bass, and he was later adopted by his |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | grandparents, J. O. and Mary Jane Young; he graduated as the |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | valedictorian of Springtown High School in 1975, earning the |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | affectionate nickname "Perch" as the manager of the varsity |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | football team; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, A veteran of the U.S. Navy nuclear program, |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Mr. Young enjoyed a notable career with the Comanche Peak Nuclear |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Power Plant before retiring; he also worked as a licensed |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | vocational nurse in Glen Rose; and |

| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, This esteemed gentleman was a devout Christian who |

| 19 | 20 | | served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher at Plainview Baptist |

| 20 | 21 | | Church; and |

| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Although Jeff Young is deeply missed, cherished |

| 22 | 23 | | memories of time spent in his company will long endure in the hearts |

| 23 | 24 | | of his family and friends; now, therefore, be it |

| 24 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
