| 11 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 12 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Chapter 19, Education Code, is amended by adding |
|---|
| 13 | 11 | | Section 19.0043 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 14 | 12 | | Sec. 19.0043. CREDIT FOR COMPLETION OF EDUCATIONAL |
|---|
| 15 | 13 | | PROGRAMS; HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA AND CERTIFICATE. (a) A school |
|---|
| 16 | 14 | | district shall grant credit to a student toward the academic, |
|---|
| 17 | 15 | | career and technology, or other course requirements for high school |
|---|
| 18 | 16 | | graduation for courses the student successfully completes in the |
|---|
| 19 | 17 | | Windham School District educational programs, provided that the |
|---|
| 20 | 18 | | completed courses meet the standards adopted under Section |
|---|
| 21 | 19 | | 28.002(c). |
|---|
| 22 | 20 | | (b) A student may graduate and receive a diploma from a |
|---|
| 23 | 21 | | Windham School District educational program if: |
|---|
| 24 | 22 | | (1) the student successfully completes the curriculum |
|---|
| 25 | 23 | | requirements identified by the State Board of Education under |
|---|
| 26 | 24 | | Section 28.025(a) and complies with Section 39.025; or |
|---|
| 27 | 25 | | (2) the student successfully completes the curriculum |
|---|
| 28 | 26 | | requirements under Section 28.025(a) as modified by an |
|---|
| 29 | 27 | | individualized education program developed under Section 29.005. |
|---|
| 30 | 28 | | (c) A Windham School District educational program may issue |
|---|
| 31 | 29 | | a certificate of coursework completion to a student who |
|---|
| 32 | 30 | | successfully completes the curriculum requirements identified by |
|---|
| 33 | 31 | | the State Board of Education under Section 28.025(a) but who fails |
|---|
| 34 | 32 | | to comply with Section 39.025. |
|---|
| 35 | 33 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 36 | 34 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 37 | 35 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 38 | 36 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 39 | 37 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
