A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to prohibiting the use of certain federal funds for a mass
transit passenger rail project.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 91, Transportation Code,
is amended by adding Section 91.076 to read as follows:
Sec. 91.076. USE OF CERTAIN FEDERAL FUNDS FOR MASS TRANSIT
PASSENGER RAIL PROJECT. The department, a local governmental
entity, or another political subdivision of this state may not use
money provided by the Federal Transit Administration for a mass
transit passenger rail project.
SECTION 2. Section 91.076, Transportation Code, as added by
this Act, applies only to federal funds from the Federal Transit
Administration provided to the Texas Department of Transportation,
a local governmental entity, or another political subdivision of
this state on or after the effective date of this Act.
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
